Gratitude, And A Recording Link

Gratitude, And A Recording Link
Recording link is below for those who missed!

Last week the CCTF hosted a webinar with Elder Albert Marshall and Bob Bancroft on the situation at Hunters Mountain.

What we expected to experience was knowledge sharing about why land defenders are protecting the mountain, and why that mountain being protected is so important for all our wellbeing... and we did experience that...

But we also experienced something else...

We experienced a room of well over one hundred people...

...of different backgrounds, from across Mi'kma'ki...

respectfully, deeply, listening and engaging in conversation in good faith...

A room full of support, and openness to collaboration...

And a space where we got to touch the kind of togetherness that our land needs of us.

Thank you to Elder Albert Marshall, and to Bob Bancroft, for sharing with us your wisdom and experience.

Thank you to Lala for guiding us with your voice and your drum.

Thank you to the land defenders whom we will continue to stand with.

Thank you to everyone who came together to see Hunters Mountain through Two-Eyes.

Call your local and provincial representatives to let them know that:

  • We stand with the land defenders of Hunters Mountain
  • We want to see the provincial and local governments meaningfully collaborating with Mi'kmaq peoples-fully honouring their sovereignty and treaty rights
  • We want to ensure that there is sizeable, old growth forest left for medicines, mature moose and deer habit, and the overall ecosystem that we are all apart of to flourish.
  • We want to see an end to rampant clear cutting and instead transition to forest management that works in collaboration with nature

*please note that due to a few tech hiccups this recording starts a few minutes into the webinar, and we had a few little audio issues. Missing from the webinar is Bob's first slide, Lala's opening drumming, and CCTF introductions to the space.
