A Call to Amend the Provincial Parks Act

On April 20, 2023, Natural Resources Minister Tory Rushton stated that there would be no golf course at West Mabou Beach Provincial Park, in Inverness County. This position was then reinforced by Premier Tim Houston's office.
This decision was welcomed by the Save West Mabou Beach campaign and thousands across Nova Scotia, who rallied tirelessly for seven months to protect West Mabou Beach Provincial Park from being leased for golf course development.
While the victory did come as a relief, many people are worried that there is nothing stopping such a debacle from happening all over again.
Luckily, the solution is simple: we need to update our Provincial Parks Act. Protected needs to mean protected - end of story.
Use this form from the Ecology Action Centre to send the Houston Government a message loud and clear: we need to Amend the Act.
TIP: This issue hits close to home for us in Unama'ki / Cape Breton Island. Please consider writing a personal message about why amending our Provincials Parks Act is important to you and your community.
