The past week was the hottest ever recorded on Earth in many thousands of years

Since records began in 1850's this is as hot as the world's ever been. Indeed, it's the hottest it's been for something like 120,000 years.This is not normal, nor a fluke. This has caused catastrophic climate-related disasters: heatwaves, flooding, forest fires, air pollution.

The UN secretary general has said that “climate change is out of control”, and scientist are reported to say that climate change is reaching uncharted territory.
